The windows are here!

Not really much else to say, currently.

I feel as I have been detached from life, though.
I go to work...
I come home...
I eat supper...
I go to bed...
I go to work...
I have a day off where I have to do laundry and shopping and groceries and...
*sigh*
I need to find time to go see Skatt.

I miss horses.

So, anyway...the title of this entry is the windows are here. And yes, they are. Actully, they are currently being put in as I type. The men came yesterday got all but the 2 big windows in the dining room and the living room and the 2 small windows in the living room done. For those keeping track, that m eans the bedroom, guest room, office, bathroom, stairway, kitchen and panrty were done yesterday.
2 guys working on it...I am inpressed.

Though yesterday when I was at work a very large thunderstorm rolled through and I got a little scared that my house was now flooded from the large gaping holes where windows should of been. But all was well.
The windows will take some time to get used to. They do not have the split panes in the top section, and the glass is all SO clean, so it looks like there is nothing there when you first look.

The old windows in the dining room were so dirty, I am excited to see how much light we will have in there now!

OK winter, we are ready for you now! =)
Or at least we can go buy an AC for the bedroom now and not waste money on the cold air seapage! =)

New Windows!

So at the mall where I used to work there was a display of replacement windows and there was a drawing to win free windows. I entered the drawing (twice, actully). So, I got a call from then asking if I was interested in getting a free estamite. I thought sure, why not, it can't hurt. So I set something up.

Now, I was expecting one of the youth that ran the booth in the mall to come, measure the windows (laughing the whole time because our windows suck), give us a HUGE quote, we say we will think about it, and never call them back, and all the time the youth are plotting ways to get into our poorly secured house to rob us blind.

SO...the guy arrives to give us his little talk. He is a very well dressed past-middle-aged man who (we find out later) is actully the manager of the company. So, he sits at the dining room table and asks us some minor questions and then he begins the measuring.

Easy, painless.

Then for the next hour and a half he begins his presentation on the brand of windows he is selling/representing, Schuco. Very cool stuff, great windows, actully ranked #1 in replacement windows in the WORLD. Highest R value of ANY window (10.25), lowest something-or-other-good-number of any replacement window. He does the great heat lamp test, 2 pane vs. 3 pane (we feel the heat through the 2 pane, but NOTHING through the 3). Filled with Krypton gas, which is more dense than air or even argon, so it insulated much better. Mold free, LIFETIME transferable warranty, maintence free, Virgin Vinal (nothing recycled that can breakdown quickly), the same window spacer system that they use on the space shuttle, mold free, passed MANY forced entry tests, and the best thing of all, they garuntee a 50% energy savings in writing. Now this all sounded wonderful.

And then he priced them out. OUCH...it was over $20,000.

Then he said he was looking for a model hom in Rochester for the company to be able to show the windows off to prospective customers and he has all this extra money to put towards...bla bla bla

*insert sales pitch here*.

Well he took off a LOT of money in the end.
Well, we decided that all the pros outweighed the cons. So we got them.

Oh yea, one more thing about his sales pitch, and this REALLY needs to be updated, according to him, I was the domestic woman. I go shopping with my husbands credit cards, I do all the cleaning (especially the wondows), etc. Kind of annoying, but we were buying his windows, not ideals/morals/values.

So, anyway we are getting new windows. Long story short. =)
