Settling in...

Been over a week now.

I am settling in pretty well. Very different world here! =)

We kind of adopted a dog. He just showed up at our barn and did not belong to anyone. We asked everyone around the area if they weremissing a dog. Nope. We call the town on his tag (dated 2003), Township of Chester, NJ, but they do not keep records that far back. So we have kind of adopted him. We have named him Chester. He is an elderly Jack Russell who cannot hear or see to well. And he has *BAD* dog breath.

Anyway...
This last weekend was a little stressful. It was just me, and our 5 horses. Kim (the trainer) and Beth (the owner) both flew home (Kim on an emergency, Beth for turkeyday) and I was left here. Now I am the only woman and the only english speaking person at the barn for most of the day. A little overwhelming. Add that to the fact that I don;t know the area, yea...I freaked out a couple times. I had to call John in a panic attack once just to hear english (and someone I know).

But All is better now. =)

Thats it for now!

Just me,
-Fran =)

Well, here I am!

Internet at the Palm Beach County Library system.
Thank you!

Well, after a very late start, an overnight 16 hour drive, a day layover in S.C. and then another 11 hour drive....
I'm here.

I feel WAY to poor to be here.
The place is all barns. Everywhere.
The rice barn owners live in awsome condos in gated communities like 20 min from the barns.

The rest of us poor folk, like me, live in a camper trailer somewhere on the grounds of a horse show.

It is pretty amazing though.

I'll just have to write more later.

Just me,
Fran =)

4 Days and counting...

I leave for Wellington in 4 days.

Today I found out that insead of living in a townhouse or condo like she was last thinking of, we are back to living in the 24 foot camper trailers. *sigh* I am not to keen on that...but it is to late to back out now.

Yesterday I made it official that I no longer work at the store anymore. That was kind of sad, but when I come home, if I need the job, I will go back.

I also started to pack today. I am almost done. I fee like I need to bring more, or I am forgetting something. It is odd not to pack any sweatshirts. Though I did pack a few anyway...I have been told that it does get cold at night there.

I am not sure what kind of internet service (if any) I will have. I am going to get a library card ($15 for 6 months for a non-resident) so when I have time I will get on there.

Anyone out there have anymore suggestions on what to pack?

Just me,
-Fran =)

Man, what am I thinking!

Well, I think I am going to be going to Florida for FIVE months now.
Nope, not just the 2 weeks (which ar first seemed forever!).

John and I took our car in to get an oil change, a belt replaced and a state inspection. Well, our beloved car did not pass inspection. And to make it able to pass inspection it would of cost over $2000. To make it a little worse. They had to scrape the inspection sticker off and could not let us take it off the lot since it is not inspected. *sigh*

THANK GOODNESS John was with me! He usually does not come, but if he was not there, I would of broken down right there!

So, we ended up borrowing money from mom wonderful wonderful mom for a down payment on a new 2006 Saturn Ion. We LOVED our last Saturn and we have been tossing around the idea about getting a bigger car, or at least something with more cargo room. But not so suddenly did he want to make the decision and sign the papers.

But ANYWAY...
Are you wondering yet how this might tie into spending 18 more weeks than I expected in Florida?

Well, simply, more money. The job I would have here for me would not be paying me as much or giving me as many hours. Florida will be an awsome oppurtunity for me and if I ever leave Up The Creek then it will be awsome on my resume. It will also be lots of fun.
BUT...
John =(
Merlyn =(
our new house =(
our new car =(

BUT...
No snow =)
no high heat bill because I am cold =)
no wear and tear on the car since I will not be driving 40 miles a day in it and John will be walking to work all the time so the car will just sit =)
No snow! =)
More money that I would be making otherwise =)

The barn owner will be flying me home once a month for 4 or so days. Perhaps John can even come down on his spring break. We will also hopefully be living in a condo or townhouse down there. The origional plans included us living in 25ft campers at the Lion Country Safari KOA.

*sigh*
So, I guess I am going.
If anyone is going to be in the Wellington/West Palm Beach area this winter look me up.

Just me,
-Fran =)
